The Square Mile Project is currently supporting the university's diabetes research by going out into the local community to recruit participants for the practical exercise study. The study is part of the university’s pioneering work to develop an artificial pancreas, which would put an end to daily insulin medication for people with diabetes.
Student volunteers are required to go out into the local Mile2 community and chat to local residents and recruit participants. This will involve visiting local community centres, handing out information to local residents about the project as well as the possibility of canvassing door to door, however this would be discussed in a team meeting before volunteering begins. This project offers students the chance to take part in cutting edge research in the field of pharmacy.
